This Friday Mello Music Group continues it's free music series, offering fOnk legends Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins "SomeOthaShip" album for free download all week! This project is 13 tracks long featuring Black Milk, Prince Po, MED, Rapper Big Pooh, Kazi, LMNO, Kool G Rap and more. The production is equally stellar featuring work from Black Milk, Oddisee, Dudley Perkins, Georgia Muldrow, and Flying Lotus. Included in the download version is bonus material including an Oh No remix featuring Rapper Big Pooh & MED and an LD mix. This project was originally released in 2010 and represents some of MMG's earliest work having been the 2nd project Mello embarked on. G&D are busy preparing another album which is due out in Fall on Dudley & Georgia's label SomeOthaShip Connect.

Ascending production star Apollo Brown started making waves in 2009 after winning the Detroit Red Bull Big Tune Championship. The next year he signed to Mello Music Group and released a series of critically acclaimed albums: The Reset, Brown Study (selected by iTunes as one of the Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of 2010), Gas Mask (with his group The Left, which made DJ Premier's Top 25 list in 2010), and most recently the instrumental opus Clouds. This is the second song from the Brooklyn by-way-of Prince George's County musicians upcoming solo album "The Good Fight." The song explores the counterproductive nature of some relationships that end up draining those involved. Disorienting and complex layers of backsliding record slips, driving drums, and haunting vocalizations push the song forward while Oddisee's crisp and calm vocals tell the story of people moving in different directions. And while anger may be somes primary drive, and fire may be their weapon, Oddisee reminds us that water is their easy match.
