The Left just dropped their album The Gas Mask. Here is another sick cut to promote the release. The Left consists of Apollo Brown (as the producer), Journalist 103 (as the rapper) and DJ SOKO (as the... well you already know).
This track featuring Guilty Simpson should be enough to convince everybody to buy the album.
Absolute banger.

Video: Sole - I Think I'm Ben Bernanke

The song itself is about the history of America's long decline, beginning with the exploitation of the natives, slavery and the post world war 2 american dominance over the globe. Once the world was sucked dry, the entire system caved in on itself. We have been living on borrowed time since day one, with nothing left to plunder all we can do now is make radical changes or suffer the consequences. Ben Bernanke, the head of the Federal Reserve has overseen many of the disastrous policies that have lead to the destruction of the middle class and american labor.  The video depicts Ben Bernanke in the near future as a homeless drunk living in a shanty, or possibly an Occupied space in the United States.
Download: Sole - Dispatches From The American Fall

Solidly united with the Occupy Wall Street movement, Mc Sole slips into the role of Ben Bernanke, the president of the Federal Reserve Boards. The days after dispersing the ruling elite.

Skyzoo - Theo vs J.J. (Dreams vs Reality) // Mixtape

Full Mixtape Stream and Purchase

In Skyzoo’s Words: "With this project, I wanted it to be a bridge between “The Great Debater” and “A Dream Deferred”. This mixtape literally picks up where “The Great Debater” left off and leads you directly into “A Dream Deferred." The tape is split into 2 parts, Theo Huxtable and JJ Evans. The first half of the tape has me rhyming as if I were Theo, with the world from his point of view. Being well off, having to live up to a family's expectations due to their success, etc. The second half is from JJ's view, with the sound being slightly more aggressive and the stories built with an "in need of something" attitude. The tape is the idea of the vast contrasts of a life that my people and I dreamed of and aspired to as kids (Theo) versus a life that was more of our reality (J.J). This one is for US. Enjoy”

Audio: Rock Bottom - Expanding the Cage // Album

<a href="http://rockbottom.bandcamp.com/album/expanding-the-cage">Morning Breath by Rock Bottom</a>

Grab the Album:Dwonload: Rock Bottom - Expanding the Cage // Album

Visit: Rock Bottom

Although Rock Bottom have been involved in the underground hip hop scene for a few years, they still consider themselves new to the game. Refusing to let themselves be sandboxed into any one category, Rock Bottom mixes musical perspectives and styles to distill an art form out of a saturated industry. With contemporary artists flooding the market and blurring the lines between hip hop and pop, the average listener's experience has been turned into a cheap thrill lacking any replay value. Music enthusiasts are jaded, casual listeners are left wanting something more...Enter Rock Bottom... with nowhere to go but up. This is not an attempt to 'take it back.' This is not an attempt to revive the 'golden era' of hip hop. This is an entirely new approach with a mix of RAW talent and RAW sound refined by five plus years of improving their style to create truly TIMELESS music.

Audio: Anathallo - Japan Set at Domo Arigato (2009)(Anticon)

Downloadlink Anticon.com
visit Anticon.com

It’s fitting that Chicago indie art-pop ensemble Anathallo traces its origins to a small Michigan town named Mt. Pleasant. There was no actual mountain nearby, but like most middle-class burgs, the place begged for input from active imaginations—for makeshift raft races on the Chippewa River, bridge dives in the summer, and rollerskating down the abandoned slides of an old water park. In the 16 years before the founding of Anathallo, Matthew Joynt’s days were filled with these things, and what space was left went to the arts: music lessons, theater productions, dance companies, limited engagement lip-sync shows (co-produced, for a parental audience of two, by his big sis), and a proto-grunge band called Clockwork that rehearsed like its namesake (6:30 a.m. every day before school). In 2000, Matt finally got serious, and with a crew of self-taught musicians and marching band ruffians, he assembled an ensemble that, to this day, exists at the exact intersection of innocence, optimism, ability and curiosity.continue reading @Anticon.com

Video: German Electronic Music History/ BBC documentary

German Electronic Music History from Jose Rodriguez on Vimeo.

Yes y´all. To all you people who are interested in musikhistory. This is a very nice documentary about the evolution of electronic musik through the "krautrock" music scene in post war germany.
All important bands like tangerin dream, cluster, can, neu, kraftwerk aso. are featured with interviews. Even iggy pop where connected to some of these guys and tells some funny storys. You get a lot of background information about the musicians and the enviroment in the (left-)revolutionary political scene in the 60/70.
so, take a trip, lean back and enjoy..

Qwazaar & Batsauce - Love Liez

Qwazaar and Batsauce bring in the New Year with an ephemeral masterpiece entitled "Love Liez."  Under the direction of Arvid Wuensch, Qwa and Bat serenade Berlin's Underground with a song that is at once dark and somber, divine and liberating.  Qwazaar solidifies his reputation as a virtuoso, continually evolving over the dusty yet innovative sounds of Batsauce.  Their Stress Chasers EP drops on January 28.
"It said tonight the moon we see it/ will be falling from the sky/and there's nothing left to do but watch it dim, let it die/eat the worm, love the lie"
