Video: Arte - New York Minute – Fast Life // Episode 6
Here we go with the last part of this great series.
“Live fast, die young“...
In New York the ride is wild on the road to riches… And no one embody that way of life better than the Ruff Ryders crew from the Bronx : talents who go from broke-to-multi-millionaire-to- bankrupt, dare-devil Bikers, hustlers who try to make it happen livin’ the Illegal Life like Mysonne…
There’s only one rule to this game: live fast and die in another New York minute.

Video: Arte - New York Minute – Lost Generation // Episode 5
Staten Island, home of 8,000 Liberian immigrants,
might have the largest concentration of child soldiers in North America. US citizens used to see these kids on CNN -carrying a Teddy bear in one hand and an AK-47 in the other- during the Liberian civil war.
Ten years later, they observe this lost generation out their window.
This story has no heroes, only survivors.
Great series. Plus the fact that this is also HipHop, in the way of approaching this whole thing, makes you forget about all that other bullshit in HipHop generaly.

Video: Arte - New York Minute – Night Nurse // Episode 4
I will post every single one of these episodes, because each of them are unique and very well done.
G-Dep is a good guy. "Blast off" comes to my mind immediately. I think I bought the Child of the ghetto LP for under a buck. That shows you a little bit of the story.
The whole episode seems unreal. The Jazz music and little tiny audio effects on his voice combined with the lights and sped-up/reversed visuals make the very harsh reality look like a movie. Of course this is the intention about it. Like aesthetically appealing war photography. Sick.
ARTE once again.

Video: Arte - New York Minute – Land Of Dream // Episode 3
This time they visit DJ Mista Sinista in Queens.
New York is an universal magnet.
And Queens, with its two airports, is the American Dream's waiting room. Next to Flushing Meadow Park's Unisphere, at the end of Roosevelt Avenue –the most cosmopolitan thoroughfare of the city-, there’s Willets Point, a place where the World meets with hundreds of ghostworkers from the Junkyard.
An inspirational blend for Deejay Mista Sinista.

Video: Arte - New York Minute / The Magic Number // Episode 2
This time it`s Joell Ortiz. These documentations are so real it`s very beautiful to watch them... none of this fake rap/industry stuff.
Can´t wait for the next episode. Check out the first one right here.

Video: Arte - New York Minute / Midnight Marauder // Episode 1
We really liked the trailers... now we have the first episode.
This first part takes a look at the CD-selling rappers on Times Square.
Anyone who ever visited New York City and went to the Virgin Mega Store, Times Square or anywhere in Manhattan most likely met these guys. I still have one of those CDs. Dude said he had Busta on the there... well it was SpliffStar, but nevertheless his Album was fresh.
Very good documentation.
By the way:
Fuck the pigs.

60 Seconds from Gasface on Vimeo.
Hey Young World,
here's some footage of New York Minute,
the 6-Part Miniseries Event we'll drop on Oct. 20th
It smells like Kryptonite, right ?You can ask Joell Ortiz, G-Dep or any Ruff Ryder : from oct. 20th, aNYthing can happen.Apart from being a miniseries, New York Minute will also set up a Hip Hop Guide to the Fast Life.Basically, our blog will turn into a monster website. That is : a web-based, collaborative, multilingual encyclopedia about New York's culture combining videos, sounds, texts and picture... Lame Time, Bang Time or Money Time : this map will be a mine of New York stories written and edited collaboratively by anyone who care about this city's legacy, wherever he lives in Brooklyn, Jersey... or Japan
Im really curious about that and i have to thank Ramon Mathilde (arte TV) for peeping me this. Looking Forward.
