Audio: Mancini and the Creepers - The Calling // EP

Mancini & The Creepers, a Bristol and London based trio, continues to blur the lines between Hip Hop, Soul, Indie, Electronica and Jazz, fusing sounds and styles with an impeccably British twist. Vocalist Mancini combines rolling raps and melodies in a uniquely soulful style, breezing through stories of life in modern day Britain. Production is handled by Tommy Tempa and Frank Laws, who together hold down The Creepers organic sound.

Audio: J.Bizness - Flips // Free Beat Tape

"Flipping" a sample is a term commonly used by beat-makers when referring to manipulating an existing piece of music. The general technique is to sample a record or any audio file and dissect the audio in order to make another beat. It's a pretty simple concept that isn't always as simple to execute.

13 Instrumentals, raw chopped with banging drums. Nice One!

Audio: Ackryte & AL_PD - SENTENTIA // Re. 11/OCT/2011

Nice to receive the upcoming release "Ackryte & AL_PD - SENTENTIA" from our Cascade Records friends while brewing coffee and the sun is on the spot outside. Last time i posted an Ackryte production i wrote this: "Ackryte is a Beast, im always a bit stoned after visiting his soundcloud page". Ackryte & AL_PD created masterfully crafted beats from scratch with layer upon layer of complexity, emotion, and drama.

pre-order digital now on Bandcamp //

Audio: DTMD - Makin' Dollas

A while ago we posted the first 2 leaks of this album, but the DTMD (Dunc and Toine) Bandcamp is'nt longer available. Now its officially released by Mello Music Group and available on itunes.
MMG: About the Song: The title track, Makin' Dollas, kicks off with Toine announcing his intentions: "The syntax is stress relief, in other words, if we speaking candidly, I be spittin' for the sanity, not really for the vanity."  This style of articulate, sharp wordplay infuses Dunc's production with the kind of wise, intelligent raps that make listeners hit rewind.  The beat itself is a working man's boom bap replete with lush guitar and vinyl scratches.

Video: Mr. Green - Live from the Streets Feat. Brenda

Live from the Streets is a video series created by beatmaker Mr. Green and director Sam Lipman-Stern. The series is based around showcasing street musicians and turning their performances into hip hop beats.
New episodes will be released every two weeks.

In the first episode of Live From The Streets you find yourself in Rittenhouse square with Brenda, a super cool lady who was singing along to her radio in the park. You see Mr. Green record her singing, then take her vocals back to the studio and make a beat with them. The beat, "Man with a Broken Heart" is available on itunes and at greenhiphop.com.

If you know of a street musician or sound that you would
like to see in a future episode, contact:
livefromstreet@gmail.com

A full Live from the Streets hip hop album is in the works.
